NHTSA proposes new truck crash standards

Speaking at a recent conference in Detroit, Dr. Ricardo Martinez, administrator for the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) says his group is looking into standards to better protect car occupants involved in car/truck crashes. Martinez says in every year since 1992 there have been more fatalities in crashes between trucks and cars than in collisions between two cars. He notes that 80%of the fatalities in those crashes occurred in cars.
